FAQ

Welcome to our FAQ page! Whether you’re looking to meet our gentle alpacas or relax with our adorable cats, you’ll find everything you need to know below.

What is alpaca trekking?

Alpaca trekking is a unique outdoor experience where you walk alongside our friendly halter trained alpacas through our beautiful Cornish farm. It’s relaxing, fun and suitable for all ages.

How long does a trek last?

Our standard trek last around 60-90 minutes, including a short safety briefing and time to meet and feed our alpacas.

Do I need to book in advance?

Yes, pre-booking is essential as we limit our group size to keep the experience calm and personal for both you and our alpacas.

What should I wear?

Please wear comfortable walking shoes or boots and weather appropriate clothing. The paths are uneven so sturdy footwear is recommended. We will not allow anyone to trek in inappropriate footwear. (sandals, flip flops, heels ect…)

Can children join the trek?

Yes! Children aged 8 and over are welcome to trek their own alpaca however they must be accompanied by an adult. Any child under this age can walk alongside the alpacas with an adult.

Can I bring my dog?

Sorry, no dogs are permitted on site. Even the friendliest of pups can make our alpacas nervous. We also have no shaded parking so please do not expect to leave them in the car. We put animal welfare above anything else.

Do alpacas spit?

Only if they are annoyed with each other! Our boys are very well behaved and used to meeting people, so it’s rare that you’ll get caught in the crossfire.

Is the trek suitable for people with mobility issues?

Our trekking terrain is very uneven. It is not accessible for wheelchairs or mobility scooters. We offer shorter, more accessible ‘meet & greet’ sessions for visitors who prefer not to walk far. Please contact us in advance to discuss your needs.

Can I bring my baby/young childs pushchair?

Our trekking route is not suitable for pushchairs. Baby carriers are recommended for anyone bringing very young children.

Paws & Purs Cat Cafe

Do I need to book a table?

Booking is recommended, especially on weekends and holidays. We limit our visitors to keep things relaxed for our cats.

Are there any age restrictions?

While we do allow young children we do ask that they are respectful of our animals and supervised by an adult at all times.

Can I bring my own cat?

No. Only our resident cats live in the cafe and on the farm. They are all rescues and have been carefully socialised.

Do you serve food and drinks?

Yes. We offer a delicious selection of hot drinks, homemade cakes and light lunches. We have vegan and gluten free alternatives available.

How long can I stay?

Our cat cafe sessions are 1 hour 30 minutes, this is to ensure everyone gets a chance to enjoy some feline company.

Can I adopt one of your cats?

We occasionally partner with some local shelters to help find forever homes. Our cats are our pets who live happily on the farm. There is an option to sponsor them so you can come and visit them again.

Are there any rules I should know?

Yes, there are some rules we have. These are to ensure our cats are comfortable.

  • Please do not pick them up
  • Only feed them with the cat treats we provide
  • Photos are welcome but please No flash photography
  • Please do not follow the cats around, they may want some space.

Do you sell Gift vouchers?

Yes! Gift vouchers are available for both alpaca treks and the cat cafe. They are perfect for birthdays, anniversaries or animals lovers of all ages!

Can I book multiple experiences?

Absolutely! Many guests enjoy a morning alpaca trek followed by a relaxing cat cafe visit. You can add on experiences when booking.
